We just got a new boat!!!

The Yankee Clipper Foundation has just purchased a new vessel to replace the old YANKEE CLIPPER.

This is no ordinary boat — it is a Navy 44-foot Mk1 Sail Training Craft that was used at the US Naval Academy to teach midshipmen how to sail.

It was formerly named “SWIFT” and was featured on a US Postage stamp honoring the 150th Anniversary of the Academy!

We are very excited to be bringing this boat to Seattle — it arrived here mid-March, 2022.

Stay tuned for the latest developments…..

  1. The guy who captained the Swift when it won the regatta at the Naval Academy to be featured on the postage stamp currently lives in Seattle. He is the President of Boeing Business Jets, James Detwiler. It would be very cool if you could get a picture of him on the Swift again.

  2. Congratulations on getting NA11 SWIFT!
SWIFT was the fastest of the Navy 44’s and would regularly beat the newer MKII Navy 44’s.
I hope to see more videos and photos of the Sea Scouts Sailing YANKEE CLIPPER!
