The new YANKEE CLIPPER
In 2022, we purchased a new boat to serve as a worthy replacement for the venerable old Yankee Clipper. Our new boat is a Navy 44 Mk1 Sail Training Craft (formerly named “Swift”) that was used at the Naval Academy to train midshipmen how to sail. For the last 30 years, it has had a distinguished career serving the Navy as an offshore racer, but this is no ordinary sailboat – it was featured on a U.S. Postage Stamp commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Naval Academy!
We are delighted to have this awesome vessel to carry on the proud tradition of the Yankee Clipper….

Reaching for home
For 70 years, we sailed the s/v Yankee Clipper, a Gaff Rigged wooden ketch. Our boat was built as a power boat in 1941 by the Navy and donated to the Boy Scouts who converted her into a sailboat. She was a Coast Guard inspected vessel and was 44’ on deck with an 11’ beam. She drew 5’ of water and had a 75 horsepower Yanmar diesel. She could carry 1,000 square feet of sail.

Where is the old Yankee Clipper?
She had reached the end of her days and we kept her going as long as we could. It was hard to say good-bye. We’re very happy with the new Yankee Clipper.
