Time flies when you’re having fun!
We had a great first time “international” long cruise!
Operation Maple Leaf launched on Aug. 8. We had the privilege to start our journey in honoring a prior scout, which was an honor and a reminder of our connection to a long legacy of Sea Scouts. We started our 10 day sail on a beautiful morning from our home in Ballard, Seattle, WA. It was a busy sail! Our itinerary included:
Everett, WA
Cornet Bay (Deception Pass)
La Connor
James Island
Bellingham
Sucia
Bedwell Harbor
Sydney, BC
Victoria, BC
Port Townsend
Seattle
Along the way we had the opportunity to re-connect with people excited to connect with the Sea Scouts or the Yankee Clipper. It is so inspiring to converse with people excited to talk about days gone by and to meet our new crew and vessel. Much of our trip was logged on our Instagram and Facebook pages, which made it possible to keep everyone updated and gave us the opportunity to hear from you as well! Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed our photos (some of which are below).
Besides meeting great people, some highlights included crossing paths with the Lady Washington of Grays Harbor Historical Seaport outside of Anacortes, having some good wind on our sail to Sucia Island, an evening out in Victoria, and exciting weather with thunder and lightening our last night in Port Townsend.
